Water

I've been involved in races in a lot of different roles. I've finished first, I've finished last. I've been race director, promotor, fundraiser, spectator. I've set up courses, broken down finish lines, announced results and won prizes. I've been a course marshal, I've been a pacer, and a lead cyclist. I've done a lot.

But today I'm doing something I've never done before -- working at a water station. This morning is the Charlottesville 10 Miler, and I'm an hour early to my volunteer post at the corner of Elliewood Avenue to pass out drinks to runners. As it's hotter and more humid than people are accustomed to right now, it's going to be an important job. Hopefully showing up at the wrong time is the only mistake I make.
