Worthless

Today was a worthless day.

Justin and I were doing a workout. Jimmy didn't come. Justin promised me he'd do 2 2-miles, and I was supposed to do 4. 5:40, 5:30, 5:30, 5:20. It was 77 degrees with 100% humidity when I woke up, and there was a dense haze on the streets. We couldn't even see inside of Body Works downtown, because the glass was so fogged up. Every time we ran by a store that had AC going inside, I wanted to stop and stay there. It was brutal for 5am. Right now it's only 66% humidity, but it feels like 102. You can't win!

I could not do this workout. The first interval was tough: 5:41 and 5:42. Very thick. I felt like I was breathing through a wet towel. On the 800 recovery, I ran to my dentist's office to get water, but the doors were locked. Fail. On interval number two, I died. Mile 3 was an dismal 5:51 before I officially cratered to 6:15 and 6:45 pace for the last two half-miles. It was almost as though I was walking the last half mile. I just could not go faster. I was trying! It wasn't happening. So I shut it down. I waited for Justin to finish, and he was in the same situation. I figured he was going to motor past me three-quarters of a mile left, but it never came. He was going even slower! So it wasn't just me. We don't like to make excuses, but there had to be something wrong with the atmosphere.

I ran back with him to the car to get some water, and then went off to make up some junk mileage. I was supposed to get 14 miles today to hit 85 for the week, but I stopped the workout just before 7 miles. After I ran about another mile alone, I thought about heading to the track and trying to do 1 mile on pace. My body was feeling a little less stressed, and I thought that I'd recovered a little bit, but then I looked and saw that I was running 8:30 pace. No wonder I was feeling better! I was crawling! So that continued for a while and I decided the track was not for me.

Today was a total waste of my life. I suck.
