Mileage

I've run 32 days in a row. I haven't done that in the last calendar year. I'd have to get out a paper/pencil log to find a longer streak. My mileage is higher this week after 6 days than it was last week after 7. I'll run 80 this week. I've run 80 and 90 once before. So things are going well. I feel good too.

I doubled Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (running club) and today. Yesterday I ran with Scott in the afternoon after bailing on Justin in the morning. I didn't get to sleep until after 11pm Thursday night, and I woke up before 4pm to tell Justin I wasn't coming. It was in the 70s yesterday when Scott and I ran in the quarry. I didn't wear a shirt and it was perfect.

This morning I started from my house at 7am and went down Rt. 1, through Alum Springs, and over to Hanover. David was arriving as I did, but I did two loops around the shell trail before running away with him, Bob and Scott. Jack slept in and didn't join us. They were going to go to the Battlefield for lack of a better option, but I talked them out of it. We went around the hospital, up to the slavery museum, and down to the quarry. We got onto the canal and started to pick up the pace. I was at 12 miles and they were at 8, but I had to get home. So we parted ways. I went harder the rest of the way home to make up for the easy pace through the quarry.

Scott, Bob and David are so mean to me. I don't want to be friends with them anymore. All they did the entire run was make fun of me. They were so mean. They made fun of the movie Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels when I was telling them about it, saying that it was a gay porn. It really hurt my feelings. I spent a majority of the run quietly fighting back the tears that they were causing me to shed. It was one of the worst runs of my life. All I wanted to do was get away from them, but the pace was so fast that my only option would have been to slow down. They were running way too fast for me to run away from them, but I would have been too embarrassed to get dropped by them since they're so much older than I am. I was so relieved when they kept going because their long run was longer than mine so that I could sit down on the side of the road and sulk.

Tonight I ran with Jeff Branscome in the quarry. I expected us to run slower, but he wanted me to run the same pace that I would have otherwise. It started a little bit faster than I normally would have, but things were fine. The mud was a lot drier than it had been the previous two runs in the quarry.

Tomorrow I can run a nice easy 7-8 miles and relax until Monday's workout.

  1. This is a comment from Scott that he emailed me and I'm posting...

Wow, I feel so bad now after reading your blog. I am sorry that you were watching gay porn, I mean, that we were giving you a hard time about watching gay porn, oh, I mean, well, sorry we hurt your "feelings". Bob was the one that was pushing the pace so blame him for that, though David was the one telling him to keep the pace up!
