Afternoon Quarry

I haven't run since Saturday. I wanted to yesterday, but I was working too late and I chose to have dinner instead. I didn't have time on Sunday... I woke up at 6:50 as it was to go to the Redskins game and didn't get back until 8:30pm. I woke up this morning to go but it looked as though no one was going to be there, so I went back to bed. I've been pretty restless at night... probably from lack of running.

I went to the visitor's center today to drop off the Wild Mile banner which came in the mail today. Then I went over to Hanover to run. I had hoped I might have some company but I was solo. It was warm and I was sore in my left IT band, so I tried to keep it slow. I was averaging around 7:15 for the first 3 miles and was happy with that going into the quarry. The 4th mile was 8 minutes though, going up the Shoney's sign. So once on GWS Blvd, I picked it up. I just wanted an honest effort going up that road. It translated into 6:35 for the mile, and then I relaxed and managed to run 6:37 and 6:34 for the next two miles-- but feel like I was jogging. It should have been jogging, considering that was faster than when I blew up last week in St. Paul.

I stretched for a long time. My IT band felt better about 20 minutes in. I should make sure to warm up very thoroughly from now on while I'm nursing this pain.
